BBC has recently reported that the world’s most covetable and preserved rainforests were put on sale through Facebook Marketplace. Reports have revealed that the land put on sale includes national forests and the land reserved for the indigenous people. Some of the lands that appeared on Facebook Marketplace are as large as 1000 Football grounds. The Californian Tech Firm, supposed to be behind the land deal however reminds the buyers and sellers concerned to comply with the laws and regulations of the existing commercial policies.
The Activists and the Environmentalists have come forward in protest of the illegal land deal that appeared on Facebook Marketplace. They even allege some of the government officials are unwilling to halt the most heinous land deal on earth.
The saleable Amazonian land could be searched on face book’s Marketplace using the keywords such as “forest”, native jungle” and “timber” says the report. The listings even support the satellite images and GPS dimensions. Some ads confess that they don’t have enough land titles but have documents to prove the ownership of the land under Brazilian Law. Report suspects the cattle industry lobby behind these illegal land deals.
Facebook, however, leaves everything to the local judiciary and other authorities concerned after registering their helplessness in the matter.
Amazon being the largest and most diverse tropical rainforest in the world is the home to 33 million people and thousands of species of plants and animals.

The climate scientist, Antonio Donato Nobre says that what media talk of the destruction of the Amazon rainforest is “the great green lie”.
