The immature spirit of renaissance (Navothanam നവോത്ഥാനം) in Kerala

The people of Kerala are now suffering from a hangover due to the over-consumption of immature spirit of renaissance. Literally 360 degree dimensional action has made the people to be the forefront-warriors of renaissance. At the same time it is a surprising fact that the word Renaissance (Navothanam നവോത്ഥാനം) is not yet included in the famous Malayalam dictionary, Shabdatharavali by Shreekandeshwaram. The Wikipedia also has not yet specifically defining the word Renaissance (Navothanam നവോത്ഥാനം) and the acclaimed pioneers of Renaissance and the Wikipedia in fact restricted the same in one page in its cyber space. The descriptions regarding the reasonably pioneer of the renaissance movement in Kerala Shree Narayanaguru ശ്രീനാരായണഗുരു also restricted to a single line. The absence of the word Renaissance (Navothanam നവോത്ഥാനം) in the Malayalam dictionary and the limited descriptions in Wikipedia surprises the supporters and promoters of renaissance in Kerala.

The word renaissance means re-awakening and the phenomenon is natural since the inception of this world. The phenomenon of renaissance is a continuous natural process. However the spirit of Renaissance in the global perspective is a historical milestone and hence, defined in the English dictionary and Wikipedia relevantly. But the renaissance as branded (Navothanam നവോത്ഥാനം) unfortunately not included in the famous Malayalam dictionary, Shabdatharavali by Shreekandeshwaram ശബ്ദതാരാവലി: ശ്രീകണ്ഠേശ്വരം.  For the same reason it was not included in the Wikipedia too. Nobody so far took much effort or interest to include the word and movement in the famous Malayalam dictionary, Shabdatharavali by Shreekandeshwaram and the concerned pages of Wikipedia as well.

The world is changing every moment due to the natural process of renaissance or re-awakening. The rituals and customs that are honoured in every society is also changing and reformed again and again to form another rituals and customs. It is a process of evolution. In fact the rituals and customs are at the same time have to be considered concurrently as old and new. In the context, the renaissance as branded (Navothanam നവോത്ഥാനം) by a group of thinkers and writers probably belong to the left-oriented politics could not be treated as the spirit of Renaissance in the global perspective.

The spirit of renaissance as branded (Navothanam നവോത്ഥാനം) is now on the Kerala stage is due to the recent delivery of Supreme Court verdict based on the entry of women in Sabharimala without any discriminations either biological or sociological honouring the gender equality. The verdict has to be honoured and implemented constitutionally and democratically. But it is a fact that no government since the inception of the state has raised their voice against the gender inequality now the honourable Supreme Court has emphasized concern. Neither writers nor thinkers in Kerala in the past never have raised their voice so effectively against the gender inequality. It is also noteworthy that the acclaimed orators late Dr. Sukumar Azhikkode and Prof. M.N. Vijayan too had abstained from making any comment on the gender inequality that ritually observed in Sabharimala ശബരിമല .

This evidently shows that the spirit of renaissance as branded (Navothanam:നവോത്ഥാനം) now in action by a group of thinkers and writers in Kerala is not an outcome of the judgement delivered by the honourable Supreme Court. The spirit of renaissance as branded (Navothanam നവോത്ഥാനം) by a group of thinkers and writers is therefore an outcome of political factionalism and exploitations. The spirit of renaissance as branded (Navothanam നവോത്ഥാനം) is propagandized by the social media engineered by political factions. Hence, the propaganda could not be taken into account seriously since the social media versions are often superfluous and in no way considered as the final verdict as it is done by the judiciary. The social media is therefore should be cautioned in its blind usage as a tool for consensus and propaganda.
